Thrive in the Workplace by Leveraging Your Strengths
Career progression as an introvert can be challenging at times, as I have seen as an introvert especially in workplaces where extrovert qualities are highly valued. But interestingly, do you know that an introvert has certain skills that are unique and if these skills are properly identified and used, it becomes easier to move towards success in the workplace? Let’s get started….
Step 01: Identify your strengths
Look, there are billions of people in this world, no one has the same thing as the fingerprint of someone’s hand is not the same as the fingerprint of another person. The greatest power is to know yourself. You have power within you that exists only in you and no one else in the world. Just find it and accept it. Only you know what you will do well in your career, you just have to find that talent, so keep looking.
An example is Lionel Messi, one of the best legends in the world of football. He recognized the talent inside him long ago, he believed in himself, so he became one of the best footballers in the world.
Step 02: Acquire public speaking skills gradually
Speaking in front of people can be challenging for an introvert because he is not used to speaking in front of people but nothing is impossible in the world. I can share my experience. I slowly started presenting. At first I was very nervous but I eased myself and got the courage. I thought that I am coming here to speak and no one else had the courage to come and present so I continued.
My suggestion is that the night before you go to any meeting, be well informed about the topic of that meeting. Try to become an expert in yourself. Study as much as you can. If you can, you will see your public speaking inertia going away.
Step 03: Networking in your own way
Career networking is very important but can be uncomfortable for introverts but don’t worry there is an easy solution.
Just as there are extrovert people around you, there are many introvert people who fall into your category. You should first start networking with like-minded people. Another thing you can do is use social media. Professionals can use social media like LinkedIn to connect with people it will do great networking.
Step 04: Find a mentor
Don’t make this mistake. First of all, I know a lot. I can do a lot. I am very wise.
You find a good mentor for you to take him as a mentor who is an expert in that subject means he is successful in his career. If he is already a successful person in your field of interest, then having him as a mentor in your life can make your career path much easier.
Step 05: Choose the right working environment
Not all work environments in the world are suitable for introverts. Choose a work environment where there is a quiet workplace, the opportunity to work independently, you can choose a remote work environment, such as writing, research, technology and design, such fields can be good because in these fields, an introvert can express his talent by working quietly.
Step 06: Take the help of technology
An introvert always prefers written communication, so use digital media such as email, Twitter, Instagram to show your skills using digital tools.
You can communicate from one end of the world to the other end of the world sitting at home using digital media very easily.
By doing this, your talent will be revealed very easily and your contribution will be clear, your work will be noticed by everyone, so take the help of technology in your career.
